Our History

Makanlab’s journey started with a love for food and a passion for bringing people together at the table. It all began with T&L Bakery Cafe, a cozy spot serving Western and fusion cuisine, and Mai Trai Restaurant, where rich Malay and Thai flavors came to life. These restaurants weren’t just places to eat; they were experiences—warm, inviting, and packed with flavor.

Then, the world changed. When COVID-19 hit in 2020, so did the way people cooked and ate. With restaurants facing challenges, we pivoted to bring restaurant-quality meals into home kitchens. That’s when we introduced Easypaste—a game-changer for mothers and home cooks. No fuss, no extra ingredients—just bold, authentic flavors in a ready-to-use paste. From Masak Merah and Tom Yam to Masak Lemak, Carbonara, and Asam Pedas, we made sure every meal could taste like it was made by a chef, with zero hassle.

But we didn’t stop there. As demand for convenient, high-quality food grew, so did our offerings. We launched a range of frozen food products, ensuring that delicious meals were always just a heat-and-serve away. We also introduced frozen pastries and Malay kuih like crispy curry puffs, golden churros, and fluffy donuts, along with a variety of breads, kuih koci and kuih tepung bungkus—perfect for busy mornings or indulgent snacks.

What started as a response to changing times has become our mission: to make home cooking effortless, enjoyable, and delicious. At Makanlab, we continue to innovate, delivering flavors that bring joy to your table—one meal at a time.
